One of the regions best kept secrets. The Tumut and Tumbarumba regions offers some of the best and most adventurous Mountain bike trails in regional Australia. The trails cater for the novice mountain bike enthusiast through to those with the skills to take on some of Australia’s wild mountain bike trails.
RIDING TRAILS IN THE TUMUT STATE FOREST
Mundowie Loop (red) – 3.3 km in length - MTB Intermediate
Womboyne Trail (blue) – 2.3 km in length - MTB Intermediate
GC Mile (purple) – 1.6 km in length, MTB advanced.
MTB Loop (green) – 1.2 km in length, MTB advanced.
These trails are only for use by cyclists and walkers. Please do not ride motorbikes or horses on the trails as these activities may cause significant damage to the trails.

THE TUMUT MTB PARK
Has four trails to discover ranging from intermediate to advanced. Located close to town these trails offer a wide variety of terrain for all levels. Take the Hume Highway south, through Goulburn, Yass and toward Gundagai. When arriving at Gundagai bypass the first two exits cross the bridge and take the South Gundagai/Tumut exit with the Shell Service Station. Travel time approx 41/2 to 5 hours.
Take the Hume Highway north to Albury approx. 3 1/2 hours. Travel through Albury and continue along the Hume Highway through to Holbrook and Tarcutta, then take the Adelong & Tumut turn off approx 20kms north of Tarcutta. For the discerning traveller try the Snowy Valleys Way. Travel time approx 5-5 1/2 hours.
Travel the Barton Highway to Yass. On reaching the outskirts of Yass take the by-pass to Gundagai which joins up with the Hume Highway. Travel time approx 2- 21/2 hours.
On reaching Tumut continue along the Snowy Mountains highway towards Cooma, passing the City Centre of Tumut and the sports ground. Take a left hand turn into Tumut Plains Road (just after 5 Ways Studio) and after crossing a one lane heritage bridge, then another small bridge, take the next left into Little River Road. Travel 7.2 km's to the river. Take a right at the gate and travel along the dirt road, until you see the road veer to the left with Elm Cottage signs.
